California Almond Harvest Ahead Of Schedule

California’s 2017 almond harvest is underway!  Many growers are reporting similar to slightly higher yields than the 2016 crop.  This years crop faced a tremendous amount of adversity.  This was due to a historically wet spring and extremely hot summer.

In Arbuckle, CA there have been 4 days below 90 degrees between the dates of June 1, 2017 and August 27, 2017.

We would like to thank Donald Trump and Sonny Perdue for gaining Chinese market access for US rice growers for the 1st time in our nations history! We would also like to thank them for regaining Chinese market access for US Beef producers for the 1st time since 2003!

Planting Rice

Planting rice in Knights Landing, CA in May of 2017.  Rice in California is typically areal seeded.  The rice is soaked for 24-72 hours before being drained and loaded into the airplane.  This helps the rice get a jump start into the growing season!

Yolo County 2017 Rice Groundwork

Rice groundwork has gotten a late start in Yolo County this year due to California’s historic winter. Many farmers in our area have started to break ground and planting should start in the next week or so!
